Lately I worked on my personal tree (I'm talking about genealogy, not gardening) and I was wondering if some of you already did the same ? It's very interesting but damn difficult to find a trace of ancestors sometimes.
So far, I know I have some origins in France (of course), Italy, Spain, UK, Scotland (I know, Scotland is supposed to be part of UK, but... INDEPENDANCE !!!!), and I could find some traces 11 generations earlier, up to 1623. What about you ?

I have never tried, although many people were interested because my surname is Hungarian. Well, but it seems we are very international and mostly central-european (what I know from talking to my mother). I have some origins in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Hungary (these 5 for sure) and probably Poland and there are some rumours there is also some Ukraine and France. Well, the French origin is a question in the family since Napoleonic wars and I think it can´t be proved or disproved

If someone in your family is particularily charming, you can be sure about these French origins
